Here at CAN Capital, we want to wish entrepreneurs nationwide a happy National Small Business Week (NSBW)! We are proud to support small businesses and help them grow and thrive. Over the past 20 years, we have supported more than 185,000 small business funding transactions worth nearly $7 billion. It has been a privilege to provide access to much-needed capital to help businesses maintain their vital role in driving our country’s growth.
In honor of NSBW, here are five tips for each day of the working week:
Monday: Promote National Small Business Week to your customers and encourage them to support you! You can get the word out over email, social media (be sure to use the hashtags #SBW2018 and #SmallBusinessWeek to expand your posts’ reach), flyers, window displays and word of mouth. However you promote the holiday, it is a good time to remind people of the fundamental role small businesses play in the economy with factoids such as these: Small businesses comprise 99 percent of U.S. employer firms and since 1995 have generated 64 percent of new jobs.
Tuesday: Take advantage of virtual educational and networking events hosted by the Small Business Administration throughout NSBW (April 29 to May 5). From Tuesday to Thursday (May 1-3) between 12:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. ET, the SBA will host a free online conference connecting thousands of entrepreneurs. Also, the virtual event will allow SBOs to meet, discuss current business strategies and listen in on insightful presentations.
Wednesday: Treat your team! Arrange an impromptu happy hour or picnic to and show how grateful you are to your employees. Your team will appreciate the gesture and it will foster a more collaborative and productive work environment.
Thursday: The warm weather is a reminder that summer is just around the corner. Take time to devise a plan. Aim to come up with three creative ideas to keep your business booming during what are often quieter months. Maybe an event with a local partner can drum up some excitement, or you can use the slow period to chase down late payments.
Friday: (May 4), join the SBA (@SBAgov) and other entrepreneurial experts for the National Small Business Week Twitter Chat on how to start and grow a small business.
